Life of Pi

So last night I saw this Ang Lee-directed adventure movie. It is about the life of Pi Patel, who escaped  a shipwreck and had to survive on a little boat with a Bengal tiger. His parents died because of the storm-induced flooding of the Japanese ship headed toward Canada. The story is told by Patel as a grown man sharing his memories with a writer looking for inspiration. It was good, but some of the dialogue was awkward, effecting some nervous laughs in the theater I was in. I didn't read the book, so if you have I'd be interested in hearing how the dialogue was in it in relation to the movie. Anyway, with eleven Academy Award nominations, I would like to see it follow in Hugo's footsteps and win Best Cinematography. Originally, I wanted Robert Richardson (cinematographer of Hugo and Django Unchained) to win, but after seeing Life of Pi in 3D, I was positively surprised. Even the transitions between scenes were absolutely gorgeous, and with that I would like the film editor to take home the Oscar this year. Additionally, the visual effects were absolutely stunning, especially in 3D. The score was appropriate, so I think all the nominations were well-deserved. My favorite parts of the movie were the moments shortly after the shipwreck and the actual shipwreck visual itself. How did you like it?
