Hitchcock

This Sacha Gervasi-directed biography/drama revolves around the movie Psycho, and the difficulties that the famed "Master of Suspense" went through to get it made. As a big fan of Mr. Alfred Hitchcock, I was very excited when I saw on IMDb about a year ago that this was being made. However, I was nervous when I saw that it was being directed by someone who does not have much of a filmography. Usually, like most film lovers, I try to guess how good a picture is going to be based primarily on the quality of the director's previous work. I was thrilled, however, that Anthony Hopkins was to play Hitchcock. I knew that his slow British eloquence would be perfect, and he did not disappoint when I finally got to see Hitchcock just a month ago. Neither did the director, who did a pretty good job capturing the journey which Hitchcock took to out the book Psycho on the big screen. Evidently he had some trouble flying it by the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (which evolved into the Motion Picture Association of America, or the MPAA). Earlier this year a made-for-TV movie called The Girl was released, depicting how Hitchcock allegedly abused Tippi Hedren and ruined her career. On the contrary, Hitchcock's wife is the one getting herself into trouble in Hitchcock. This will not be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars (nor should it), but it is a nice little movie reminiscent of My Week with Marilyn. My friends were even interested in seeing it, though they have no knowledge of Hitchcock whatsoever. It was cool for me to see the Paramount lot, too, since I have been there before. Enjoy the pictures below that I took on my 2011 trip to Los Angeles.

A gate to the Paramount lot. The original Forrest Gump bench is out of view to the right. Maybe I will display that picture I took sometime. :)
The Psycho house. It is on the Universal lot and the film is owned by Universal, so I am not sure why the film Hitchcock made it seem like the house was at Paramount. Perhaps those were earlier designs of  the house.

This is just a picture from a Hollywood wax museum on Hollywood Boulevard, near where the Oscars are held. I have a picture of that which I shall show closer to February 24th.
